What’s the history of Kids ‘N’ Stuff?

Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum was founded in 2002 by Rebecca Mitchell, whose husband was president of Albion College. It is the only children’s museum within a 60-mile radius.

Today, the Museum occupies a 12,000-square-foot space on Superior Street, the historic main thoroughfare of downtown Albion. Prior to the museum’s founding, half of the space was a former J.C. Penny store. The other half was previously used by Goodwill Industries, which later relocated to a newer building on the outskirts of town. The owner of a regional supermarket chain (Felpausch) donated the Goodwill space to Kids ‘N’ Stuff when it became available.

In August 2005, Kids ‘N’ Stuff closed for about four weeks to renovate that space and install new exhibits. The museum reopened in late September 2005 with a special community celebration. Today, the museum consists of several large rooms with high ceilings and abundant natural lighting. We invite you to learn more by visiting the Kids ‘N’ Stuff website at www.kidsnstuff.org.

Who can I contact for more information about Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum?

Please contact the Museum’s Executive Director, Kathy Fischer, at (517) 629-8023. Or send your e-mail inquiry to info@kidsnstuff.org. We welcome your questions and comments!
