Exhibits - An Interactive Experience for Kids!

Kids 'N' Stuff offers your children more than 30 different interactive exhibits and activities. It's the perfect way to combine fun and learning for kids ages 10 months to 10 years. We offer a an environment that is safe for children to wander from station to station and exhibit to exhibit. (Take a tour.)

Exhibits

Our staff could fill an entire book with individual listings of all the tools, toys and activities at Kids 'N' Stuff. For faster reading, we've organized our exhibits into the following eight categories. To learn more, please visit our online photo gallery or stop by for a visit. We'd love to show you around!

Homestead Savings Bank and Held International Post Office
This area teaches kids about money from around the world, as well as math and exchange rates. Money can be used in the world village and grocery store to “buy” items.  In the post office, kids can mail letters and packages to various places around the museum.  They can sort mail into the post office boxes and sell stamps. Felpausch Grocery Store
Our grocery exhibit comes fully stocked with a variety of “fresh”, “packaged” and “frozen” products. There is even a checkout lane complete with a conveyor, working scanner and register. Kids can fill up their carts, restock the shelves and run the checkout. Older children will enjoy reading the creative labeling of food from many cultures showing them where our food comes from. (Photos) (Video) Stimulate your child's imagination and appetite as they explore:

  • Math and metrics
  • Product categories
  • Meal planning
  • Nutritional choices
  • Grocery store economics
  • Careers and role playing
  • Ethnic foods and cultural diversity

Climbing Wall
The 8 ft. by 16 ft. interactive relief mural is a work of art which tells the story of South-Central Michigan. Children scaling it will not only be physically active, but will learn about the history of their home region.  Climbing builds children's self esteem, and encourages problem solving, as well as communication, team and trust building skills. The Olson Family Messy Art Room
Art exploration is an activity that many families wish for their children…but not always in their own home. The dedicated art room provides an expressive opportunity that few locations can parallel. Art provides a unique window into a child’s development, well-being, and emotions. Kids ‘N’ Stuff has incorporated many adaptations so all children can fully engage in play activities of their choice. The Olson Family Messy Art Room includes large handled paintbrushes, an accessible easel, and a variety of types of scissors so children can explore art to the best of their ability. Albion Community Foundation Music Room
Our Music Room gives children the opportunity to create their own music and explore sound through the use of assorted musical instruments.  Featured instruments include a PVC pipe organ, a piano where kids can see how the sound is made, and an electronic drum set.  In addition to these more permanent instruments the music room will also house a variety of instruments from countries featured in the world village exhibit. Staff bars are painted on the walls of the music room with magnetic paint to inspire young composers. (Photos) (Video)

Drama Area
The Drama Area will inspire children's imaginations. The drama space is complete with a kid-sized accessible stage and an abundance of dress-up costumes. Performers can also see themselves on-stage with mounted camera equipment.  Make your favorite stories come to life or create your own production on our stage. Kids and parents will also enjoy the puppet theater with a variety of puppets for creating your own puppet show. (Photos) (Video)

Water Table
One of the joys of childhood has always been playing with water. At Kids 'N' Stuff children will be able to explore the interaction between water and solid objects by creating their own water flow patterns using moveable panels. Children will be able to alter water flow speed, direction, turbulence and height.  Whether it is racing boats or fishing, kids of all ages will enjoy the water table. (Photos) (Video)

Dr. John W. Porter World Village
The John W. Porter World Village is comprised of four structures, each representing a different country from around the world. This exhibit teaches children about other cultures, increases understanding and helps them prepare to live in a truly global society. (Photos) (Video)
