Bring on the break! For one full week, March 25 - April 2, join us at KNS for activities and programs for everyone. Activities are suitable for all ages but may require additional assistance from an adult. Materials for our programs are generously provided by Team One Plastics.

Potato Printmaking

This art is incredibly a-peeling! At this eco-friendly art-making workshop, families will discover unexpected connections between plants and art. Then take part in the art yourself, by making stamps from potatoes and other plants, and creating your own art prints!

Table Scrap Gardens

When dinner is over, table scraps might be destined for the trash or compost - but what if they could become new food instead? In this hands-on workshop, get your hands dirty by learning how to start your own vegetable gardens from common table scraps. Then, try it for yourself, by creating and planting your own mini scrap garden to take home!

We all carry a camera in our pockets - but do we know how do they really work? In this experimental workshop, learn about the basics of photography by designing, building, and testing one of the earliest cameras created - the pinhole camera!

As spring continues to bloom, animals are on the move. In this hands-on workshop, families will explore how to identify common Michigan animals by what they leave behind. Then, take part in an art-making experience by creating your own Michigan Track Guide!

Plarn!

Do you have a pile of plastic bags in the back of a closet or under your sink? In this hands-on workshop, learn how to turn those bags into a useful new material - plarn (plastic yarn)! Plarn can be knit, crocheted, or woven, and by the end of the workshop, all participants will learn to make their own plarn bracelets.

DIY Holograms

Holograms might sound like a piece of sci-fi technology - but with the right tools, you can easily make a DIY hologram today! In this experimental workshop, families will learn about the technology that makes holograms work. Then, families will work together to design, draw, and project their own hologram art to take home! Children 5 and under may require some adult assistance.
